About the Studio

Dancing Davis Studios is owned by the dynamic duo Davis Canady and Emily Smith. Situated in Hampstead, North Carolina, our prime location offers convenience to residents of Hampstead, Wilmington, Jacksonville, Burgaw, and various other nearby areas. Davis Canady

Davis is a highly trained professional dance instructor and choreographer who has more than 32 years of experience providing top notch dance instruction to dancers from many parts of the globe. He teaches both American and International ballroom such as Tango, Waltz, Foxtrot, Rumba, etc. He also teaches County Western, (Two-Step, Polka, etc.), Latin (Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Cumbia, etc.), Swing (West Coast Swing, Carolina Shag, East Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Charleston, etc.), and general line dancing. Davis has choreographed dance scenes in several television shows and movies including YaYa Sisterhood, Muppets from Space, and Soldier's Daughter Never Cries. He also started the very popular swing nights in downtown Wilmington in the late 1990's.  Additionally, he has competed in many ballroom and swing dance competitions and continues to dance competitively today. 


Emily Smith

Emily has been couples dancing for 24 years. She first started dancing as a teenager at Davis's Wilmington studio, Social Graces Ballroom Dance Studio. She has placed in many ballroom and swing competitions and regularly participates in showcases. She has attended many dance events across the country and has had coaching with numerous dance champions.
